Marrybrown Rendang Ayam

Little did I know that Marrybrown is actually a local homegrown chain. Visited one of their latest Marrybrown outlet at Taman Melawati Mall which is quite impressive for a local chain.

Marry Brown (2)

Being a local Malaysian brand, for this special menu, Marrybrown is bringing us back the kampung taste by introducing 2 new item into their menu. Marrybrown Rendang Ayam series, We can also get it on Marrybrown delivery by food delivery service in Kuala Lumpur too.

Marry Brown (8)

Rendang had made its mark worldwide for its umami taste and being featured in many cook shows or reality cook shows. A dish known worldwide, rich with history and cultural significance which brings the community together as one.

Currently one of their best seller is Rendang Ayam combo. A classic recipe seasoned with herbs and spices that will gives you the familiar as it is cook with a similar traditional cooking method into the preparation of the dish to remain its authentically rich and flavourful taste.

Marry Brown (3)

For a fast food chain, I am really impress with their Ayam Rendang as the spices are spot on. Not the usual typical extra spicy flavour but the mixture is well balance with fragrance of herbs and spicy is just nice. Indeed a classic dish. Chicken is soft and juicy too.

Marry Brown (9)
Marry Brown (10)

Next, they have added on Burger Ayam Rendang @ RM 12.50. A set that comes with a drink and pack of fries.

Marry Brown (6)

Quite like the chicken and the rendang sauce added ontop gives a unique taste. Instead of liking the rice, now I prefer the burger more (as in individual preference).

Marry Brown (4)

A set which is just nice to my liking. Currently the special seasonal set is only available from 19 September 2019 till 3 November 2019 at selected Marrybrown outlets across Malaysia.

Pizza Mansion @ Happy Mansion, Section 17

Who loves pizza? It is quite hard to find a nice pizza place. My favourite is a kopitiam pizza stall in Penang known as Frankie Pizza. However, my best friend whom she stay above the place told me I must come try this newly open pizza place known as Pizza Mansion at Happy Mansion Section 17.

Pizza Mansion (1)

Hence, upon writting this post, it had been my third visit over past 2 months. Why this place is pretty good as the dough is made fresh and they use wood oven to baked the pizza. Interior is indeed very simple and nice. Love the simple ambiance.

Pizza Mansion (2)

A place that is not huge, but enough to cater some groups of people. There is no reservation and what you need to do is to be there early. Once it is full, there is a little note pad hanging right at the door area, write your name and just lepak around the corner.

Pizza Mansion (3)

Pizza Mansion (4)

It is a very simple menu.

Pizza Mansion (9)

There are 2 item is a must in my list. One is this Baby Garlic Pizza @ RM 5. Simple. soft and fluffy pizza bread and pack with flavour. WE usually have one each before the pizza arrive. Just a slight inconsisancy as we found out different baker at the counter comes out with different taste.

Pizza Mansion (5)

This is another 2nd item that must have – Truffle Mac & Cheese @ RM 20 – Macaroni, Granda padano, mozzarella, gauda, aged cheddar and truffle. Baked to perfection as the cheese just melt on the top with a slight burnt on the top of the cheese and maraconi. Perfect!

Pizza Mansion (7)

Pineapple Express @ RM 30 – Slow roast pineapple, smoked duck slices, chopped jalapeno, tomato sauce and Mozzarella.

Pizza Mansion (8)

Holy Paperoni @ RM 30 – tomato sauce, cured spicy beef, fresh onion ring, Fior di latte, aged parameson and oregano.

Pizza Mansion (10)

Smokey Robinson @ RM 35 – Smoked salmon, onion ring, capers, fresh dill, spring cream, sour cream and basil oil. Among those few, this flavour is my least favourite. I still prefer those classic flavours.

Pizza Mansion (11)

Most of the pizza are pretty good. Currently emerge as one of my favourite pizza place. However do note that there are slight inconsistancy, however I think still a recommended place by me..

Burger Baek @ Bandar Sunway

Anyone in for Ramlee burgeR? Of course I am in. One of my favourite local street food burger. Saw a few post of this burger stall and drop by to check it out. Apprarently Burger Baek is not your usual ramlee burger stall as they are famous for their Crispy Fried Chicken Burger. Why? Because it starts for RM 4 onwards!

Burger Baek (1)

A stall had been operating for more than 15 years in the area.

Burger Baek (2)

If you are here, do prepare to wait for at least 30 minutes as their order is quite crazy but again, really depends on your timing and luck. When I was here, I waited about 20 minutes for this. Of course better then those crazy bubble milk tea queue at SS15

Burger Baek (3)

In the menu, there are quite an option for you to choose from. I am abit greedy on that day, so decided to buy 2 burger for myself to check it out.

Burger Baek (4)

Burger Baek (5)

The crazy burger tray area. Look at the mess.

Burger Baek (6)

The grill pit is getting busy with moutain high order.

Burger Baek (7)

Burger Baek (8)

This is their signature crispy Chicken Burger as double patty is one of their usual famous order. Burger lovers in the area just like to stack it up. Was told by the onwer that there are even customer order 5 pieces of crispy fried chicken stack! That’s crazeeee!

Burger Baek (9)

Well, I find that their burger is not too bad. Fried chicken done to perfection. Sauce added in to make it juicy and overall, a not too bad crispy chicken burger.

Burger Baek (10)

I still like my classic burger. Slopy and drench with sauces, egg wrap on the patty and still think their normal ramlee burger style is better than their famous crispy chicken.

My usual order is Beef Burger Special with Cheese @ RM 4.50

Burger Baek (12)

If you are looking for nice Ramlee burger stall in PJ, I think this stall is not too bad. Kinda worth recommended to give it a try.

However if you are not a fan of burger, I have tried the stall nearby to them and it is pretty good. Nasi Kukus Ayam Maliki Maliki is actually a nasi kukus worth to try which is just a few doors away.

It is not easy to find a nice Chinese Dai Chow in KL. During my birthday this year, I was brought to this place hidden right in a neighbourhood that just smack a row of shophouses. Fatt Hei Leen Restaurant in Taman Taynton View in Cheras is indeed a hidden gem of dai chow.

Fatt Hei Len (1)

A place that is packed with diners for its great food and very affordable pricing. Since this is a special occasion, my friend had pre-order in advance.

Fatt Hei Len (2)

This will be my first time trying out a unique dish which is also the Signature “Pao Heong Rice” @ RM 186. Cooking in a fragrant broth, pack with flavour from big head prawn, sweetnes from bone and also the rice is like pre fried then added in that makes it unique of its kind.

certainly a dish that is worth to order if you have yet to try it out. Prawns were fresh and juicy.

Fatt Hei Len (3)

Fatt Hei Len (4)

Another classic dish that goes well with rice is this Patin Fish in Yellow Wine @ RM 110. Love the aromatic strong taste of yellow wine and the freshness of fish goes veryw ell with it.

Fatt Hei Len (5)

Fatt Hei Len (6)

Fatt Hei Len (7)

A simple dish that cook to perfection is this Pork intestine with dried shrimp. Every bite is filled with wok hei. Just nice @ RM 30

Fatt Hei Len (8)

Fatt Hei Len (9)

Not stingy over their ingredient, each bite of Lala is to max flavour @ RM 20

Fatt Hei Len (10)

It had been a while since I enjoy a Sour and Spicy Crab and the gravy here is worth to order. @ RM 152

Fatt Hei Len (13)

Fried 4 veggie @ RM 30

Fatt Hei Len (14)

Yam Ring is indeed a very classic dish. Not many place can cook this dish well. The way they cook it do give me a taste of my kids chilhood. Yam is soft, aromatic and fragrant with its nice fried pork top on it. @ RM 29

Fatt Hei Len (15)

since we had the fish and now wanted order another one which is Yellow Wine chicken @ RM 38. Never dissapoint.

Authentic Fish Head @ Ampang

$

It was just about 2 weeks ago that I got a message from one of my reader that insisted me to try out this place as she finds Authentic Fish Head 古早鱼头 located at Ampang is one of the best in the area. After trying out is indeed a hidden gem if you are looking for fish head in Ampang.

Authentic Fish head (1)

Only then found out that it is actually a shop that is newly open in this neighbourhood. Normally, a steamed fish place is always in an alley, a place design with atap or kopitiam. after finishing, we constantly ended up drench in sweat and freaking hot. However they have set up this place to suits diners comfort where diners now we can enjoy steamed fish in air conditioned environment.

Authentic Fish head (2)

Got to know that the chef have more than 35 years of experience and recently created a new menu for this steamfish. All the ingredients he made from scretch with his on recipe.

Authentic Fish head (3)

Menu is quite direct and I find the price is very reasonable.

Authentic Fish head (4)

I am honour to be one of the first to try out Steamboat fish head know as the 7 Treasure (七彩浓汤松鱼皇) that will be their the new signature dish. Quite suprise to find it price at RM 48.80 which is a very reasonable, that can easily feed 4 pax. A quite a good value. Filled with taufupok, taufu and fish ball. Fish is quite huge and to beware that it is quite boney. Serve in half the size. Eat with care! Fish is fresh and meat is soft and smooth.

Authentic Fish head (5)

With a sip of the broth, you knew that this broth is made with effort. A broth that is cooked or boiled with a few ingredients in it. Taste sweet from pork bone, that had been cooked more than 10 hours along with 4 more ingredients..

It is quite addictive that you will keep sipping the soup without realizing and best of all, you get to request 1 round of Free addtional soup.

Authentic Fish head (6)

As for the condiments at the side, this is chef homemade chili and it is good. Sourish, mid spicy and taste a bit of fermented bean curd in it (fu yu). It is a must dip along with the fish meat. Another way I find to enjoy the soup base is by adding a little bit of the chili into your mini soup bowl and the whole flavour profile changed. Another new level of taste which I find it quite too.

Authentic Fish head (7)

Authentic Fish head (10)

Another classic fish that we ordered is Black bean & Chilli steam Bonito fish head @ RM 28.90.Steamed to perfection, as the tau si topped on it taste quite different. If taste like been fried fresh and just added on top. Love the slight bitter, salty, fermented after taste, A classic taste that I do miss. Without the fish with just only the condiments, all I will be asking is a bowl of white porridge and I am done. Soy sauce is so fragrant to my liking as it is punch with flavour. Those of you whom are heavy palate, this might be your thing.

Authentic Fish head (8)

Spicy Mango Sauce Beancurd @ RM 9.90, is a puree that made with Thai mango and a taste that is well balance off. Not the thai taste cuts through the sweet sour mango but pairs well. A nice dish for starter.

Authentic Fish head (9)

The veggie do look simple enough but what is nice is the fried dry shirmp that is topped on toped and soy sauce makes it better. Chef take a few hours to fried it out in slow fire. @ RM 9.90

Authentic Fish head (12)

To end, we were introduce with 2 drinks, A Classic salty 7up with lemon. A very refrshing drink and perfect ending with soda base to make you burp.

Another drink that must have for me is their Hong Kong Milk Tea. One of the best so far as it is smooth body, I like the slight bitterness after taste. Just as near as to the one in Hong Kong that I have tasted.

Authentic Fish head (11)

Chef, thanks “layaning” my first interview video along with explanation with all this dish and also Ms.Lo for recommending this place.

Authentic Fish head (13)

Overall, this place is worth to explore as I am definately coming back again to try their other dish. Especially the claypot curry and ginger steamed fish. Not really know where are other steam fish in Ampang, definately this is one of the best steamfish in Ampang that I come across. Currently is one of my recommended place for steam fish in KL at the moment.

Thanks for the recommendation and discounts.

Aftermeal Desserts @ Uptown Damansara, PJ

After meals, where do you go for desserts? Go Aftermeal loh, in Uptown Damansara. A new dessert place in PJ that is currently gaining its hype for its interesting combination of kakigori style of dessert. Been here consistently for 2 days to try out a few items. A dessert place which is quite similiar to Snowflakes. Can drop by here after on my favorite choice of Qing He Gu Korean BBQ , Mikoshi Japanese Shabu Shabu Buffet or TOMO Ramen shop which is just a stone throw away then just stroll over since parking here is a pain in the ass. Walking is my best option.

aftermeal (3)

To be here on Monday night is the best as there is much lesser people as most of the shops around the area are not operating.

aftermeal (2)

aftermeal (1)

Menu is pretty direct as there are combinations sets and also some ala carte.

aftermeal (4)

The first drink that instantly caught my attention is their Classic Wintermelon Tea @ RM 9. One of the best drink I come so far as the winter melon tea is quite prominent in taste and not too sweet yet the transparent pearl gives you a suprise element as I was drinking it without any expectation. – Recommended

aftermeal (6)

Told the cashier to recommend what to have for first timer, he instantly recommend their best seller Iron Lady Milk Tea @ RM 22. RM 22 seems quite steep it is but is it worth it? Well, hats off for their signature. Love the tea taste of their kakigori, quite prominent and strong to my liking. aftermeal (9)

aftermeal (7)

aftermeal (10)

Taro balls were abit hit and misses as it is abit soft and I prefer mine slightly chewy. Not too sure about you as different people have different preference. Do goes well with the kakigori snow.

aftermeal (11)

As you dig in, you will slowly discover more stuff underneath the bed of ice. Will certainly go back for this anytime.

aftermeal (14)

As I tried on the first night, my friend instantly dm me why I didnt try their sour series. Which is one of their best. On the next day, I am back again to try out this 2. Classic Calamansi Yokan @ RM 16.

aftermeal (21)

If you are a sourish person, this will be spot on for you. Not to strong sourish that make your jaw instant numb but it is decent enough for me. A bowl of like sourish lemon in it. A perfect bowl for hot weather.

aftermeal (15)

Tried their Classic Grass Jelly @ RM 16. Well, this flavour is as nice as tastes like how Snowflakes started back in those days. Strong grass jelly taste in both ice and jelly. The amount of ice and taro balls given is definately more worth it than snowflakes at the moment.

aftermeal (17)

I find it a perfect dessert in the afternoon as a great thirst quencher.  tried 3 drinks in total. Their Winter melon lemon is one of the best I come across. (highly recommended) @ RM 10

aftermeal (22)

aftermeal (13)

Milk tea (according to the owner) she uses a premium ingredient and to me is quite bland. PassionFruit Tea – taste like she mix with tea as the tea taste is overpowering passionfruit. Feedback to the owner on the texture of taroballs and also both drinks. Hope they can improve along the way.

If you are craving for shaved ice or kakigori dessert, it is indeed one of a best dessert place in Uptown, PJ to hit on.

Filled with fluffy soft-scrambled free-range kampong eggs with cheddar, caramelised onions, sriracha aioli on a hot cross bun. We ordered both to try out and thinks that the normal one is suffieicient to hit a satisfaction spot. The Sarsi-glazed beef at Rm 8 does not do much impact on the taste.. – recommended

Tapestry (14)

Tapestry (10)

LINGUINE with battered edamame, seasonal vegetables, tomato stew, served with freshly grated Grana Padano choose to add lamb meatballs. For a simple dish as dish, they have done it well.

Tapestry (12)

As first we were skeptical on this dish as we already ordered most of the item. However most of us are still not full from the first round order and decided to make this FRIED CHICKEN as add on. Lightly-battered fried chicken brushed with honey sriracha glaze and served with a side of fries and fennel salad. turns out to be better than we expected. The glaze is good, fill with mild sweet, souries and bitter taste that suits on the sauce and also fried to perfection. – recommended

Tapestry (13)

Tapestry (15)

A typical breakfast for RISE & SHINE EGGS BENEDICT, on bubble and squeak, poached eggs and bunga kantan hollandaise. you also can choose one of the 3 options below:
1. Beetroot-cured salmon
2. Sarsi-glazed beef bacon
3. Halloumi (v) @ RM 28

Tapestry (16)

The rest of the dish below are all sub par or so so  such as:

MEATBALL SUB Lamb meatballs drenched in tomato stew finished with Grana Padano shavings on a sub roll served with onion rings @ RM 28

Tapestry (18)

FRENCH TOAST, with fresh berries, mixed berries compote, Earl Grey gula melaka (v)(s) choose to add Sarsi-glazed beef bacon or ice cream. A dish which is not too bad which I think at this price they could have do much better.

Tapestry (17)

Tapestry (20)

PANCAKES, with mixed berries compote, fresh berries, edible chocolate soil and Earl Grey gula melaka (v)(s) choose to add Sarsi-glazed beef bacon or Halloumi (v) @ RM 25. Pancake is dense and hard. not the fluffy type. Give this a pass if you can.

Tapestry (19)

Tapestry (21)

Love their coffee as we ordered total of 8 different glass as it was a big group of 10 of us for birthday celebration. flavourful Long Black @ RM 10 & Latte @ RM 13. Coffee is pretty good and we all agree to it

Tapestry (22)

Tapestry (23)

Cakes were alright as there were 4 options on that day.

Tapestry (24)

If you are looking for some nice brunch place to try in KL or a nice cafe to chill after 3pm, I overall think this is not too bad. But if to wait for 60-90 minutes for a table I would say it is kinda waste of time.

3 item if you are not sure what to order and I think it is worth to try for first timer are:

  1. Rise & Shine Egg Drop
  2. RISE & SHINE EGGS BENEDICT
  3. FRIED CHICKEN or Linguine

The rest will be depending on your personal taste bud and they might improve along the way.

Chinese New Year is just around the corner and everyone is already busy shopping. Colleague and friends are busy hunting places for dining and I am saying, Chynna at KL Hilton is definately one of a recommended dining place for Chinese New Year Gathering, as by one of a well known Chef Lam.

Chynna at Hilton (1)

Chynna at Hilton (4)

Chynna Chinese New Year 2020 menu by welcoming the year of mouse.

Chynna at Hilton (2)

A classic tradtion to start with definately with Yee Sang. Chynna’s signature Yee Sang for 2020, the Smoky Chicken with Rice Krispies Yee Sang – quite a unique flavours of combination with smoky chicken that gives a nice hint of bitter fragrant and the sweet sauce enhance on the flavour to pair it well.

Remark: rat platting is upon request

Other highlights from the Yee Sang menu include the Strawberry and Macadamia Nuts Yee Sang, Crispy Fish Skin and Salted Egg Yolk Soft Shell Crab Yee Sang, Norwegian Salmon Yee Sang with Passion fruit Sauce and Traditional Norwegian Salmon Yee Sang. Price starts from RM128 for half portion and RM238 for full portion.

Chynna at Hilton (3)

Chynna at Hilton (6)

Starting off with a bowl of warm soup is indeed perfect. Not the usual that we have as this is Braised tomato puree soup with seafood, vegetarian fins, and crushed almondsmooth, creamy and silky. Punch with flavour of seafood and love the ingredients in it as give you a nice bite.

Chynna at Hilton (5)

Chynna at Hilton (7)

Next is a simple dish that is punch with flavour. Perfectly baked, yet not too salty as the taste of salt baked through the chicken that gives every bite aromatic. Eight treasure salt baked chicken Chef Lam styleusing kampung chicken. Of course need to dig in with ginger-spring onion condiment.

Chynna at Hilton (8)

A bit of twist of flavour. Steamed moontail grouper with green lime and garlic chilli sauce Waking up your palate with sourish thai syle flavours. Done to perfection as it is not too sourish yet garlic is not overpowering. Having a Fish on the table also signifies lots of Surplus or abundance. Year year got 魚 (yú).

Chynna at Hilton (10)

Just look at the thickness and silkly texture of the gravy. From this already know that it is made with alot of effort and will be pack with flavour. The creaminess of gravy is indeed flavourful and abalone is cook right. Not to rubbery and a dish that gives you a nice chew and crunch. The cabbage soak on the gravy that gives you  a light burst of flavour when you chew on it. Love it. Sliced abalone with sea cucumber, dried oyster, sea moss, and Chinese cabbage

Chynna at Hilton (11)

Stir fried prawns with kam heong pepper sauce is fresh and love the size of it. Just nice

Chynna at Hilton (12)

We were so stuff when comes to this dish. The fragrant of lotus leaf smells so good. Fried rice is not too dry and preserved duck meat gives the balance of saltiness that it needs and lotus leaf fragrant just soaks in. Fragrant fried rice with preserved duck meat wrapped in lotus leaf

Chynna at Hilton (13)

The perfect ending is with Double Boiled Almond Cream with Gum Tragacanth (also known as peach gum) and premium Musang king dessert. A satisfaction ending indeed. those of you do not like the taste and smell of almond might not like it as I have learn to enjoy this dessert soup over the years. Silky and smooth. Just perfect. Musang King is like top of the cream.

Famous Mama Mee 夜宵食堂 @ Kepong Baru

Street food! Who is in for comfort street food. A simple reason, this place that just operate JUST 6 months is making a huge waves of virality over social media. This makes them the Famous Mama Mee 夜宵食堂 @ Kepong Baru, KL is one of the stall to hunt for in the area. Making bee line right before it opens is already worrying, not to mention if you reach dinner time and do prepare to wait for about 30-6o minutes for a table.

One of a famous food in Thailand or making it a must have Thai Street food food whenever visiting that country. With a clever mimic from Thailand, this had made them one of a  famous tomyum noodle in KL.

Mama Mee Kepong (1)

I was told by my colleague to visit here early and I am in kiasu mood today. I reach at 6.20 pm as the store operates sharp at 6.30pm. Moments into 6.35pm, BOOM! the shop is full and when the clock hits 7pm, the queue is forming up.

Mama Mee Kepong (2)

Mama Mee Kepong (15)

Menu is pretty direct as there are a mix of street Italian and Thai and the price is indeed very reasonable.

Mama Mee Kepong (14)

Mama Mee Kepong (3)

For a classic Thai mama noodle, it must topped with an egg yolk, mine got 2 because I ordered 2 pax portion. Which turns out to be quite big portion. This is not your usual single pack of mee mama but it is the big pack of Mama noodle. 2 pax means 2 packet at one serving.

Mama Mee Kepong (4)

Mama Mee Kepong (5)

Mama Mee Kepong (6)

Because I had a few meals today and only decided to order MAMA Noodle with Meatballs @ RM 12.80 (for 2 pax) – single pax is RM 7.80.

Mama Mee Kepong (8)

This is pretty obvious that the soup is cook by themselves as at home we could not cook such a big batch. Soup is pretty good, where resembles the powder of mama noodle, and the soup do taste a little sweet, sourish as it needs and not too spicy, which I felt it is just right that many of non spicy eater can accept too. A pretty generic bowl of noodle soup.

Mama Mee Kepong (9)

I failed at cooking this noodle at home and with their huge fire, they cooked about 45-1min before taking it out. Making the noodle very springy and just perfect!

Mama Mee Kepong (12)

Meatball is done to perfection. I felt that it is homemade, as the meatball did not roll up too dense, yet a bit airy in between and cook to just right. Not too hard yet soft and juicy. A hint of strong white pepper taste is prominent even the taste of tom-yum is pretty solid already.

Mama Mee Kepong (13)

Topping egg yolk into it is to make it more creamy and after mixing the whole bowl, it will tone down the spiciness and the soup turns slightly creamy.

Mama Mee Kepong (16)

A simple meal that will knock you off. A flavour that will makes you satisfy. I am good with this. A famous street food in Kepong.

Koay Teow King @ Uptown Damansara, PJ

Char Koey Teow seems to be one of a staple food that every one constatntly looking the best one either best Char Koey Teow in KL or Best Char Koey Teow in  PJ. There might be one, as every cooking method is different. I was introduce to this 粿條王 Koay Teow King at Uptown Damansara, PJ that serve authentic Penang  Char Koey Teow.

Koay Teow King (1)

I was ask by a few readers to check this place out. Little did I know that actually this place is own by my friends husband whom is a Penang Kia himself that went into FnB industry for pure passion into serving best Penang street food in KL or PJ. He went up to Penang and bought the recipe from a retired CKT seller and train with the recipe creator for a month.

On and off the owner himself will be in the kitchen frying koey teow for diners.

Koay Teow King (2)

Do not be shock by this pic as this is not the usual way of frying a plate of Char Koey Teow, CKT as this order was a special order. Add extra spicy and extra pork lard.

Koay Teow King (3)

Its a place to be for many diners that are craving for Penang Char Koey Teow. Menu is pretty straight forward and there are some enhancement too if you want  to opt for special version.

Koay Teow King (4)

Koay Teow King (5)

Koay Teow King (13)

A classic Seriously Best Coffee (kopipeng) @  RM 4.50 in the shop that is a MUST order. A well balance of evaporate and condense milk yet the punch of the “kauness” of coffee is just right.

Koay Teow King (6)

This is one of the shop specialty. Not your usual Pork Satay (6pcs) @ RM 15 as this is a Thai infuse version Pork  Satay. Well marinated and grill to perfection. Juicy inside out and a great starter before arrival of CKT.

Koay Teow King (7)

Koay Teow King (8)

As for this place is Char Koey Teow with “extra fresh Siham”. This is a heaven for my friend as he loves fresh si ham and this is perfecto for him.

Koay Teow King (9)

My usual is Original Char Koey Teow with Prawns  @ RM 12. Find that the price is quite decent as a normal plate in Penang is already RM 10 – RM 15 depending how big the prawns are. Prawns here are pretty decent  in size and fried to juicy. Koey teow is fried just right with wok hei.

Koay Teow King (10)

Koay Teow King (11)

This is one of a specialty that not many CKT store in Penang do offer this version and because of the cost. An Original Penang Char Koey Teow with big prawns and crab meat. Those of you that do have budget, this plate is topped with fresh crab meat and it is quite generous of it. @ RM 18

Koay Teow King (14)

Then new in the menu as was told to try this out. Grandma Fried Rice. A different style of cooking method which I kinda miss. Rice is moist yet not too dry as the usual one. Topped with a perfectly fried sunny side. It had been long time that rarely a person will fried a fried rice with long beans.

Best way to eat it is a spoonful of rice + a bit of egg + a dash of sambal. A spoonfull like just below.

Koay Teow King (15)

Koay Teow King (16)

Overall, it is a decent place for Char Koey Teow fix in Pj. Price is quite decent as starting from RM 9. Best to start off with Original Char Koey Teow with Prawns and a glass of Kopipeng. This is perfecto!

A place with mix reaction taste. Some of you might like it some of you might not.

A new eatery had pop up in Uptown Damansara and this is the new MiyagiSays. I really do give me an impression of Karate Kid movie. Not only that, I personally felt that it is a nice place to hang out with friends too.

MiyagiSays (1)

This new bar in Uptown Damansara  do have its own twist in  both  the stories and also their food. They are serving Japanese Fusion food with a twist of local infusion. More like a Japanese Mamak style. Hence you can see some of the servings are like Mamak version. This Japanese Bar in PJ also serve pretty well known Highballs.  It is actually soda with whisky. One of a famous streetfood or yakitori moment that a must have drink.

MiyagiSays (2)

A place which is minimalist interior with  raw finishing and their lvl 1 will blow you away.

MiyagiSays (3)

Starting off with signature Miyagi Highballs. A refreshing drink that have a nice balance of flavour, bubbles that I like and with a slice of Lemon.

MiyagiSays (4)

Onigiri Original – with a Nasi Lemak Twist in it. Serve with fried popiah base and seaweed sheet

MiyagiSays (5)

Miyagi Potato Chips. Crispy that goes well with  my highball and to dip along chef special sambal which is not too spicy yet fragrant. Just nice.

MiyagiSays (7)

MiyagiSays (6)

Sup Tulang Nabe is more like a combination of Bak Kut Teh but they make it into a twist of Japanese version. Love the soup which is slight pappery that give you a hint of heat at the end.

MiyagiSays (10)

Maggi Ox Tongue

MiyagiSays (11)

MiyagiSays (12)

MiyagiSays (15)

I quite like Miyagi Nga Pou Kai Fan. Using Japanese Soy Sauce and Chicken being grill first before adding on top. Can ask for extra soy sauce if you want it to get a little salty. Just nice as  the flavour really does goes well with the highball.

MiyagiSays (13)

MiyagiSays (8)

If you want some snacks to bite then Bak Kwa Pork Belly is pretty good. Nicely glazed and grilled.

MiyagiSays (9)

Butter milk Kai

MiyagiSays (14)

Cream Cheese Kai Si Fatt is da bomb! A must order  if you like Kai Si Fatt (Chicken Backside)

MiyagiSays (16)

Egg bomb turns out to be better than expected. Potato and mash with perfectly cooked egg in the middle with a bed of salmon tartar.

MiyagiSays (18)

Another 2 drinks we got is Henny Highball  and Sake Highball. The uniqueness of their highball is the tap behind is being imported from Japan that gives it a unique kind of soda water.

MiyagiSays (27)

MiyagiSays (20)

After that we adjourn to upstairs with liveband on every weekend. A different kind of look whereby the bar is fitted with white titles and alot of neon corner which is perfect for picture taking. Best to come here around evening.

There are 2 different menu being served as mains are only available downstairs and only some snacks are available in Level 1.

MiyagiSays (19)

MiyagiSays (21)

MiyagiSays (22)

MiyagiSays (23)

MiyagiSays (24)

Continue our night with Gin with Plum (I think girls will like this a lot. Simple drink). Cocktail highball.

MiyagiSays (25)

They also have a unique tai wah sek game. Do check them out.

MiyagiSays (28)

Indeed a nice Japanese bar in PJ  to chill out.

Restoran Ruby 祖传芝麻糊大王 or to be known as King of Chi Ma Wu at Pudu is one of a Chinese dessert or Chinese Tong Sui in KL to be. Waves of high praise for them upon their Sesame dessert.

King of Chi ma Wu (1)

We walk over from our pre-CNY dinner place at Restaurant Sek Yuen to here as just a stone throw away. Was told by my colleague that they are famous for a few dessert and try it out lo.

King of Chi ma Wu (3)

The stall looks more like herbal drink stall rather than a dessert stall.

King of Chi ma Wu (4)

King of Chi ma Wu (5)

Price is slightly on the high side.

King of Chi ma Wu (9)

King of Chi ma Wu (12)

I have high hopes on this Steamed Egg Custard @ RM 3.50.. However it was quite a let down in both taste and texture.

Well a dessert place that I wont return but again really depends on your taste bud. I do see alot people making take away like at least 3-10 per bag. Also again, the build up hype and comments for many people give me this set of expectation.
