Bo all day Dining @ the Linc, KL

Bo all day Dining is operating in this cool mini neighborhood mall right in the edge of Golden Triangle, KL. Sitting at the edge of Jalan Ampang, you will pass through this university look alike building but it is actually a new small mall.

Bo All day Dining offers fusion food that focus alot on local infusion.

Bo Dining (1)

Bo Dining (2)

a place where you can dine comfortable with its nice ambiance. Service is pretty top notch too.

Bo Dining (3)

Bo Dining (4)

cake display is rather interesting as they added in trail of leaves to make the cake pop up.

Bo Dining (5)

If you are here for dinner, then do check out their Gin selection too. Nicely balance up and quite strong finish, just as how I like it.

Bo Dining (6)

Bo Dining (7)

This is what happened when your friends take picture of you and you are half ready.

Bo Dining (8)

Starting of with our starters, Chicken Croquetas. Stuff with mash potato and the flavour is mild and not too bad.

Bo Dining (10)

Bo Dining (9)

white truffle pumpkin soup @ RM 28 – truffle salsa and a poached egg. This is one of my favourite soup. First time having it as not the usual pumpkin soup. A creamy flavour of pumpkin which is not too overpowering yet the truffle salsa taste just lift the after taste to balance it out. Break the Poach egg make it more creamy. – recommended

Bo Dining (25)

For pizza fans, do check out their pizza series as was told by the waiter it is one of their signature menu. Tried out Yes Sir @ RM 45 – Beef Tartare, Jalapenos, truffle pasta, capers, mozzarella and parmesan. Thin crust base, yet can chew on the dough and ingredients being sprinkle in, is just nice.

Bo Dining (12)

Squid Ink Paella @ RM 72 (can be shared 2-3pax) with aioli, seafood, lemon & parsley garlic oil. I am quite picky over my paella as not many places do cook it good, but here is done to near perfection. Quite addictive in each bite as the little chunks of seafood give you a nice chewy texture, yet the broth being added in is fragrant. Seafood did not overcooked yet some of my friends find it a bit salty after taste but I like it just as it is.

Bo Dining (13)

Bo Dining (14)

Pan Seared Red Snapper @ RM 38 – with lemon olive oil mash, citrus salad & poached pears. Very interesting combination as it added poached pears. Give you a kind of soft texture yet with the fish, it goes on very well as the nice lemon olive oil give it a slight acidic taste as it need to balance it off. Quite a good dish.

Bo Dining (15)

Classic Wagyu Beef Cheese burger @ RM 32 – home made broiche bun with cheddar slices. Burger lovers, this is pretty good and at the price tag is like kinda worth it. Love the broiche bun as it is soft, fluffy yet grill on the pan till crips just  make it perfect bread. Beef is cook to medium rare as how I like it.

Bo Dining (16)

I was quite skepticle when I was told that this is a signature dish. Bo’s Signature Rotisserie Roast, premium quality chicken being brined and air-dried for 24 hours before being slowly roasted into the French-built oven. Serve in 3 sizes:

  1. Quater Chicken @ RM28
  2. Half Chicken @ RM42, inclusive of a side salad that evokes a Caesar and a choice of sauce (chicken jus, garlic aioli, or basil mint pesto).
  3. whole chicken @ RM 75
  4. add Chicken Ju, Garlic Aioli, basil mint pesto or Truffle Chicken Jus for addtional RM 8

Well, I guess I am wrong, as chicken is nicely done, both sauce Chicken Ju or Truffle chicken is equally good as we order both to check it out. For more unique taste, I would recommend Basil Mint Pesto. Indeed quite a unique flavour combination.

Bo Dining (17)

Oxtail Assam Pedas @ RM 43 – traditional Malay style braised oxtail in spicy sour gravy with lady fingers & brinjal. this is a mild version of asam pedas or I would say, the recipe had been modernize.

Bo Dining (19)

Bo Dining (18)

Fried Chicken Galangal @ RM 28 – Indonesian style spice & herb fried chicken served with sambal sarikei

Bo Dining (20)

Asian Crab Meat Pasta @ RM 28 – angel hair pasta in homemade Kam Heong Sauce with garlic pangrattato

Bo Dining (21)

To end your meal, Texture of Strawberry @ RM 28 – granita, puree, yoghurt ice cream with diced & dehydrated stawberries. Is indeed a pretty good ending. Sourish as what we needed for our stomach to cool it off. Best to mix all the small little ingredient and eat it at one bite. That is where the bursting of flavours and nice buttery crumbs all burst it out.

Bo Dining (22)

Bo Dining (23)

Bo Dining (24)

Dining over here is pretty good as the ambiance is just right and not too noisy. Yet you can enjoy some drinks before you hit off to your second round.

Apparently, this place is famous for their brunch menu and their weekend is super packed. Was told by the waiter to make my reservation before heading over.

there was a big hype over this Lala Noodle Soup in Lai Foong Kopitiam 丽丰啦啦米粉 in Pudu.  Read up some blogs that it mention that currently it is helm by third generation. I often come here for beef noodle and little do know about this stall till last year it went viral. My friend told me I should come early before 10.30am or be prepare to wait 60-90 minutes.

Lala Noodle at Petaling street.

lala noodle (3)

It was a random decision on a weekend to visit here and I reached about 1pm. I was lucky that I only waited about 20 minutes for my bowl of noodle.

lala noodle (4)

you know that the soup will taste awesome by looking at the prep and the colour of it. with at least 10 different types of ingredient added into this pippin hot wok.

lala noodle (5)

Fresh clams are cook into the soup for 3 minutes then netted it out to put into this individual bowl.

lala noodle (6)

lala noodle (7)

each bowl are then filled up to the near tip of the bowl.

lala noodle (8)

Just look at this colour of it. A slight yellowish oil at the side of it and clam is indeed very fresh. A generous amount of clamp indeed. @ RM 10

lala noodle (9)

lala noodle (10)

soup is pack with flavour, you can taste the rice wine, heat from the ginger, slightly fragrant from soy sauce, sweetness from the clamp. It is indeed a satisyfying bowl for your lunch. It would taste even better if it is on rainy day as a sip of the soup could keep your tummy warm.

lala noodle (11)

lala noodle (12)

This is what I have done to the bowl. Finishing up nearly everything.

lala noodle (1)

If you are not too sure on where to head for your brunch, then you could consider dropping by here if you have some spare time to kill. It is a very busy kopitiam, hence while waiting, I did order my bowl of beef noodle to hit it on first.

The famous Imbi Road Hokkien Mee Stall 燕美陆福建面 is now operating in Taman Bukit Maluri, Kepong. Did notice this stall quite a while till decided to drop by for a quick dinner. A place that is constantly pack with people and if you come at the wrong timing like peak hours of dinner, do prepare to wait a bit.

Imbi Road Hokkien Mee Stall (4)

Imbi Road Hokkien Mee Stall (2)

Imbi Road Hokkien Mee Stall (5)

Da Signature hokkien Mee @ RM 9. A simple food that had been in the menu for ages that never changed. If you are at Jalan Imbi, you will rarely miss them out as they at the junction of the Honda Showroom, you will see alot of cars park at the roadside after 9pm which, most of them are heading to this stall.

Imbi Road Hokkien Mee Stall (6)

A stir fried of their own style, fried till the sauce is slight caramelize onto the noodle, slightly chewy texture like al dante of spaghetti. Pork slices are not overcooked yet just nice. Best to add on their homemade chili to and in some fragrant and very mild heat into it.

Imbi Road Hokkien Mee Stall (7)

Imbi Road Hokkien Mee Stall (8)

Second signature – Fried Koey Teow + Raw Egg @ RM 9.50 Another of my favourite dish is this. Koey teow fried with wok hei. Poke the raw egg and mix it all over with give you the slight creaminess and goie texture  needed for the slightly burnt koey teow.

Imbi Road Hokkien Mee Stall (9)

This is their home made chili paste that must add into the noodle.

Hakka Marble Restaurant @ Taman Bukit Anggerik, Cheras

My friend recently introduce me to this classic Hakka food in Cheras, Hakka Marble Restaurant 美浩天 at Taman Bukit Anggerik, Cheras. Run by a few family members and their food range is pretty limited. The whole menu is on the wall and there are a few signature item to hit on.

Hakka Marble (1)

Hakka Marble (2)

One thing I like is their vinegar. Fragrant, and taste pretty good.

Hakka Marble (3)

One of the classic dish that must not miss if you dine in any hakka restaurant place is this Abacus. Well, their signature here is slightly different as it is Pumpkin Abacus Beads

Fried to perfection, not over cook, yet the handmade abacus is soft, chewy and a nice texture for a mouthful bite.

Hakka Marble (4)

Hakka Marble (5)

For a simple dish to go on we order their Bittergourd Soup. Bittergourd is not too overpowering yet it is just nice for those who cant really stand the strong taste of it. Mild enough to go along with other dishes. Finely Cut slices makes it nice to bite on the crunchy texture.

Hakka Marble (6)

Hakka Marble (7)

Was told to try on their Fried Asam Laksa @ RM 9. Asam laksa taste is prominent, yet more towards on the sourish side. Serve with two fresh prawns. A taste that I am not too sure how to enjoy for my first experience. Maybe will give it another chance again.

Hakka Marble (8)

Friend Hokkien Noodle @ RM 17 (for 2 pax) is much better than the fried bee hoon.

Hakka Marble (10)

Hakka Marble (11)

We order quite alot of their house special drink. One which is Cincau Sarsi and Cucumber Asam (very refreshing drink)

Hakka Marble (12)

Hakka Marble (13)

If you are around this neighborhood and craving for abacus, do drop by to give it a try.

SYST Penang Thong Sui Cafe @ Cubo Park, Penang

Looking for local dessert such as thong sui with good ambiance is certainly very limited. SYST Penang Thong Sui Cafe or Tong Sui Po (糖水铺) operating in Cubo Park is indeed one of the latest hype at the moment. It is because the whole place is decorated into a classic 80’s Hong Kong theme.

The place transport you back into a similiar one of a TVB classic scene. SYST stands for Shen Ye Shi Tang, which means “Late Night Desserts” in Chinese.

SYST Penang Thong Sui Cafe

I was back during raya and decided to check this place out. It is bustling with people.

SYST Penang Dessert Cafe (2)

Ambiance of the whole place is definately spot on. I am impress too, with the owner to have such confident by putting in such investment to sell tong sui only.

SYST Penang Dessert Cafe (3)

Those who love ootd, this place is definately one of a favourite spot that you can get.

SYST Penang Dessert Cafe (4)

SYST Penang Dessert Cafe (5)

As it was only about 11pm, quite number of items had been sold out. With limited menu, my friend chose Snow Pear Soup with peach gum and ginseng @ RM 13.

with the price tag, it is indeed on the steep side. As for taste wise, I am not too sure is my palate wrong on that day, as I find it very very blend. Near to tasteless. One true fact that it is less sweet. But for such price tag, i am expecting at least some taste from ginseng or SWEETNESS from SNOW PEAR!

SYST Penang Dessert Cafe (6)

Believe this is Double Layer Milk Pudding @ RM 9. This comes to similiar taste too. Quite blend for me and a pudding at such price tag. I have no comment. Among these 2 dessert, this is the worst.

Finally, before we hit off, decided to try out their French Toast @ RM 5.50. This is one of the best, fried to perfection, peanut butter amount is just right. Crust from outside, soft inside. Indeed one of a item must order.

For the dessert, certainly believe those 2 I ordered is on the high side. What in exchange is the ambiance you are getting. Will visit again another try to try out their warm food and their other dessert range. Best of all, a so called Hong Kong theme dessert shop doesnt serve drinks such as milk tea, coffee or even honey lemon tea.

Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee @ Chow Kit, KL

When it comes to street food, there is one famous street food in KL that is particularly famous among to some of the locals here. There is one stall that is even famous till some of my foreign friends are asking about them. This is da Famous Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee at Chow Kit, KL.

This would be my first time at their original branch to try it out. Usually I had it in their Publika foodcourt outlet and was told there is something missing. Since now my new office is just a stone throw away from this place, definitely drop by to check it out.

Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee (2)

建記辣椒板麵 Chili Pan Mee

Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee (1)

a kind of simple street food that can satisfy your cravings. A hand roll dough that turn into noodle, cook in a hot boiling water, topped with mince meat, anchovies, chives and of course half boil egg.

Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee (3)

If you are here for pan mee, then that’s only one thing, the Pan Mee Home made special chili paste. Then depending on your palate, slowly add on the special Chili into your noodle. For me, I usually add in 3-4 spoonful of it to make it fiery spicy.

Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee (4)

This is my mini 3 spoonful before I add on further.

Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee (6)

After a nice mix, then this is the final colour of my noodle @ RM 8.50 . Just by looking at it, I am hungry. Of course there is certainly a slight difference compare to the one that I usually eat. Spicy Kitchen Chili Pan Mee.

As for Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee, I find that the chili is less spicy, slightly more on the fragrant side, and with salty end. Noodle texture is about right, as they have its unique mouth bite texture which is like half chewy half soft.

Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee (7)

Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee (8)

If were to compare this Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee and Spicy Chili Kitchen Pan Mee, I would prefer Spicy. Just a simple fact more spicy and fragrant to my liking.

For those travellers who want to walk here, it is just about 5 minutes walk from the monorail station.

Segambut Fried Chicken Rice

$

Chicken Rice is one of a common quick, fast and cheap to most of the people especially sales personal. Well, there is one not your usual chicken rice in KL but this Segambut Fried Chicken Rice is quite famous among the folks in this area. Lunch could be pack with factory people around the area but it certainly do have its own style.

Segambut Fried chicken Rice (1)

Freshly fried and put as a seperate plate next to your chicken rice. You can either choose Chicken upper thigh or the whole drumstick itself.

Segambut Fried chicken Rice (2)

Rice, there is nothing to shout about as it is so called oil rice but quite near to a plain plate of white rice.

Segambut Fried chicken Rice (3)

Believe that the powder for the fried chicken is also different. As the texture and the crunchy bite of it, is certainly different feel. Slightly hard to its own cripsy chicken skin yet drench it with their own made chili is then perfect! They do drench with their own special soy sauce mix too, which I quite like it.

Segambut Fried chicken Rice (4)

A plate of Fried Chicken Rice – drumstick is about RM 12.50 if I am not mistaken. It is no longer as cheap as it used to be.

Segambut Fried chicken Rice (5)

Segambut Fried chicken Rice (6)

That’s why now I say not your ordinary usual chicken rice or the common street food chicken rice that you are getting from its price point. Well, you could also come here for the fried chicken.

The Chicken Rice Shop

I am pretty sure that most of you have known this brand, The Chicken Rice Shop by now. A brand that is no stranger to most of us whenever it comes to a chicken rice chain shop. They are located in nearly every mall in the country. To mark their milestone in achieving 100 outlets, The Chicken Rice Shop will be running their Jom Sama-Sama Makan 100 Outlets Celebration to reward their customers that have been with them all these years.

It’s a good thing that I decided to come early that day to avoid the busy crowd because it’s usually packed all day long!

The Chicken Rice Shop (32)

On 1st July 2019, the first 100 tables will receive a FREE TCRS Single Combo Meal Voucher, TCRS Cooler Bag and TCRS Special 100 Outlets T-Shirt. This free giveaway starts from 12.30pm while stocks last.

Followed by their RM10 For 2 Single Combo Meal Set from 2 – 5 July 2019, starting from 12.30pm-1.30pm with a minimum dine-in of 2 pax. That’s right! You and your friend can enjoy 2 Single Combo Meal Sets as the picture above for only RM10!

The Chicken Rice Shop (1)

The Chicken Rice shop is indeed no stranger to me as I have been dining in at their restaurant since my college days, which is about 15 years ago. Also, whenever my Malay friends ask for chicken rice recommendations, this is one of the shops that I always recommend. The consistency of their product has always been there which always impresses me.

The Chicken Rice Shop (2)

The Chicken Rice Shop (35)

Over the years, their menu has expanded and they now serve a variety of chicken aside from their Roasted or Steamed Chicken.

The Chicken Rice Shop (3)

This is also their latest outlook for their outlet.

The Chicken Rice Shop (4)

from left to right: Berrylicious, Lime Mint Supreme, Soya Rainbow, Lychee Tealicious, Berry Jelly Fizz, Famous Kuching 3 Layer Tea and Cendolcino.

The Chicken Rice Shop (16)

If you come with a big group or team, their Family Fiesta Set for 5-6 pax @ RM 119.55 is indeed more than enough. I feel that it is possible to feed 7-8 pax instead. It comes with a huge range of dishes that packs your table like you are having a buffet spread.

The Chicken Rice Shop (17)

The Chicken Rice Shop (18)

I am not a fan of ladies’ fingers but I do like how they made their Spicy Savoury Ladies’ Fingers. It is nicely cooked and topped with their chili and soy sauce which is just perfect. The Kerabu Mango also has its own unique taste as the mango slices are thin and sour enough. Among these 2, I enjoy the Spicy Savoury Ladies’ Fingers more.

The Chicken Rice Shop (25)

The Chicken Rice Shop (19)

Hong Kong Kai Lan with Oyster Sauce

The Chicken Rice Shop (20)

Their Roast Chicken is soft and juicy. What’s important to me is the soy sauce base. Steamed Chicken is done well too.

The Chicken Rice Shop (23)

Famous Stuffed Fish Ball is pretty good too. Soft and slightly bouncy, it comes with juicy minced chicken filling too.

One of my favourites is their Nyonya Pai Tee with its crispy cup crust and filling! Remember to drench it with their chili sauce. The quality has very much maintained since many years back.

The Chicken Rice Shop (9)

The taste of the Nyonya Assam Fish is like Asam Pedas which is sour and mild spicy end. If you love BBQ Chicken, this is indeed a good one as the bbq sauce is good.

One of my fav Nyonya Assam Fish, eat it while it is hot.

Lastly, Penang Cendol as a closure?

Half Acre Restaurant @ Balik Pulau, Penang

I cant remember which FB page have posted this place and it went viral. Even my dad know about this place and he insist to bring me here for lunch. So we head off to Half Acre Restaurant 半畝田台湾甕窯雞 at Balik Pulau, Penang. It is about 30-45 minutes drive if you are coming up from heritage zone.

Half Acre Restaurant (1)

What I understand is that the lady owner told us that her son went to Taiwan, bought the recipe and trained there for 3-6 months before coming back here to operate the restaurant. I have never tried the hanging chicken in Taiwan and it seems it is a very famous dish in one of the small province.

Half Acre Restaurant (2)

Using clay oven with fierce fire and wood at the bottom to cook it up. Each urn only cater for 1 chicken. So do prepare to wait for a bit on their famous hanging chicken.

Half Acre Restaurant (3)

There are indoor and out door sitting. If you are seated inside, it is quite dim for photo purpose. Even though we made a booking on that day, but it was chaotic. No difference from walk in.

Half Acre Restaurant (4)

This is the famous Hanging Chicken or known as Klin Roasted Chicken @ RM 45.

Half Acre Restaurant (5)

Half Acre Restaurant (6)

Half Acre Restaurant (7)

Half Acre Restaurant (8)

As for Penang popular signature drink in Balik Pulau, do not miss out their home style Nutmeg Juice with Asam. Certainly will make your face smirk with its punch of sourness and indeed very refreshing as I always like it. Do give it a try as the taste might be quite unique too you.

Half Acre Restaurant (9)

Upon the serving onto the table, the aroma of roasted chicken is just amazing. The roasted chicken is serve with 2 special dipping powder and some of the juice ooze out from the cooking process.

You have two options to dine this chicken. The classic way is to eat it by tearing it off just as it hang there with plastic gloves ready for you. Another is by the lady boss to cut it into pieces and put onto the plate. We chose second method as I need to take pictures. When I am back next round, certainly will be enjoying it the classic way.

Half Acre Restaurant (13)

The chicken is roasted to perfection. Punch with marination flavour, soft and juicy on each bite and best to dip it with their powder which I believe is cumin and another (i do not know) :D. I ended getting another dipping power as it is soooo goood!

Half Acre Restaurant (12)

Half Acre Restaurant (10)

This is not the usual China Style Salted veggie spicy fish soup but the Tawainese style is equally good too. Turns out to be quite good as I did not put any expectation. Creamy style like KL Fish Head bee hoon, fragrant with Chinese white wine, fish is soft and each mouthful is satisfying.

Half Acre Restaurant (11)

Half Acre Restaurant (14)

This place indeed serve pretty good hanging chicken and if you are here do not miss it out. One of a must order dish. One of a good local Taiwanese food in Penang.

Ho Kow Hainanese Kopitiam @ Petaling Street, KL

Recently, a few of my followers send me msg in Insta to check this place out. After I google about this place, it turns out to be a famous Hainanese Kopitiam that had been operating for more than 60 years at Lorong Pangung. Ho Kow Hainanese Kopitiam at Petaling Street had just moved to their new location that is currently creating more modern classic touch of their interior. Drawing massive crowds from both local and international tourist.

It is a crazy hype at the  moment and do prepare to queue for a minimum 30 minutes. At their peak could be 60-90 minutes. Was told that the queue even started as early as before 7AM on weekend where all are ready to dig into their famous Hainanese Cham drink with soft boiled egg, kaya butter toast.

Ho Kow (2)

Ho Kow (3)

Ho Kow (4)

Love their interior. A classic touch

Ho Kow (5)

Ho Kow (6)

Their signature drink is Cham Peng @ RM 3.50 (L) is indeed a drink that you must not miss. Punch with flavour and a well balance of tea and coffee. For their Teh Ice at RM 3.50(L) is just normal. I would prefer to order 2 glass of cham instead.

Ho Kow (7)

seen alot table ordering this, hence we follow suit.

Ho Kow (8)

Their nasi lemak picture in the menu looks good, hence we decided to give it  a try. Turns out to be as good as it looks. Chicken fried to perfection, crispy skin and chicken meat is soft. Their Sambal is is salty, mild spice and with a a little hint of sweetness.

Ho Kow (9)

Nothing much to shout out abit this as a croissant comes with meat floss, egg, ham.

Ho Kow (10)

Curry Chee choong fun is abit of Ipoh style.

Ho Kow (11)

Their dry curry chicken noodle is one of the famous item too. Do give it a try. Mild flavor curries served with soft chicken meat and their noodle texture is pretty good. Not the usual type of noodle that you can find in kopitiam.

Ho Kow (12)

Ho Kow (13)

End with this classic Kaya Butter toast. A simple toast that you should not miss with a glass of Cham and half boil egg.

Famous Chinese Nasi Lemak Ong @ Alor Setar

$

I was off to Alor Setar for Kedah Fashion Week 2019 and of course food hunting comes in the top priority list. Of course not to miss out this famous Chinese Nasi Lemak Ong at Alor Setar. To some KL folks here, you might know this brand in Pavilion as their second branch is located right at level 8, Pavilion Elite, is actually one of my favourite shop too.

Nasi Lemak Ong (1)

So to us, why is this called Nasi Lemak which it is so similiar to Nasi Kandar. I learn that it is actually their term of calling it. Nasi Lemak in Kedah = Nasi Kandar to us. Hence to me, there is this slight confusion when I see it.

Best of all, Nasi Lemak Ong is quite unique as I got curious and ask the owner himself, how he establish this business. It was just a pure passion of him, as he went to learn from his Indian friends on cooking curries 35 years ago. Since then Nasi Lemak Ong is born and over the years he improvise each of the curries.

I also found out that Nasi Lemak Ong at Pavilion is actually manage by his son. I did also ask him why the taste is different from here. He said sourcing of ingredients is different and more expensive compare to Alor Setar. Now I know why!

Nasi Lemak Ong (2)

I read up a few post that, we must come here early, or be prepare to queue. I was here at 11am for early brunch. The smell of curry aroma just poke through my nose and was salivating while taking the picture.

Nasi Lemak Ong (3)

I ask what is his signature, everything is his best. Depending what I like.

Nasi Lemak Ong (4)

Nasi Lemak Ong (5)

Just look at the colour of the curries. Just loving it.

Nasi Lemak Ong (6)

Nasi Lemak Ong (7)

so my usual, I pick Salted egg, Cuttlefish, Lamb and veggie @ RM 12. I think the price is decently price as got lamb and cuttlefish. Of course need to drench all mix curries to flood it.

Over here was given an option, spicy or non spicy. Of course will pick the mix of spicy. The mix gravy comes in 6 different types of gravy at the side.

Nasi Lemak Ong (8)

Love the curries, aromatic, punch with flavour of spices and the spicy is really spicy. I was eating till sweating and need to order another drink after that. Indeed it is quite different from Pavilion outlet as the original outlet of Nasi Lemak Ong on Kedah is definitely top notch.

For KL folks, my personal thought that we can enjoy it as it is about 85% quite similar to the original branch.

Nasi Lemak Ong (10)

20190707_113737

Then uncle also share with me how many local coverage and international coverage he had gotten over the years. So if you are in Alor Setar, I think this is a must drop by as for Chinese Nasi Kandar or a recommended pit stop by me as this uncle pass with flying colours. Also the uncle serve this Pork Free as my Malay friends also can enjoy it. I am not too sure is there any others in the area and if there is do share with me.

There is this dai chow in Pudu is quite well known to many folks around the area. My colleague had been talking about it quite a while till my other friends ‘jio’ to dine at ZK Restaurant in Pudu. It is like quite a hiddem gem in the area as they are operating in a mini row of atap hawker area and a lot hidden behind (block) it.

Zk Restaurant (1)

We chose the wrong day to visit this place as it is Father’s day. The queue is crazy as normal days, we have to wait quite a while not till on that day, we waited 45 minutes for a table.

Zk Restaurant (2)

Zee Kee Restaurant currently is helm by their second generation.

Zk Restaurant (3)

Zk Restaurant (4)

For such a restaurant, their menu will give you a knock off. The extensive menu is definitely very impressive.

Zk Restaurant (6)

Their Sour Plum Juice is a must have. I love it cuz of the texture and very sour.

Zk Restaurant (7)

Claypot Pork Belly with salted fish. The fragrant of it and the caramelize ooze with the sauce is perfect. Must order.

Zk Restaurant (8)

Their Salted egg Pumpkin is also another dish not to  miss out. Well coated with salted egg and fried to perfection. Do not burn your tongue as is freaking hot.

Zk Restaurant (9)

The Pork Ribs Duo caught us by suprise. The smell upon serving and the presentation of the dish in such environment, certainly beat many of other dai chow restaurant out there. Butter milk and MarMite Ribs. Both were so good that we order another plate go hit on. Meat is soft and juicy.

Zk Restaurant (10)

Zk Restaurant (11)

Hotplate Kam Heong Lala.

Zk Restaurant (12)

4 emperor veggie.

Zk Restaurant (13)

A classic dish that I like is this steam egg with century egg. The most important is the soy sauce added and also the right amount of water, temperature and time. This is perfect. Soft and smooth.

Zk Restaurant (15)

Veggie Curry as one of my friend is vegetarian. This is superb. Taste exactly like one of the best vegetarian shop in Penang. Love the creamy and hint of curry spice powder at the end. Loving it.

Zk Restaurant (14)

We were all very satisfied with the meal as it is very very affordable pricing. No wonder they are quite well known in the area and certainly one of my recommended Dai Chow Place. Perhaps one of the best dai chow in KL.

Mohd Yaseem Penang Nasi Kandar @ Chow Kit, KL

There are tons of Nasi Kandar in KL, but which one do you like. One of my favourite is Mohd Yaseem Penang Nasi Kandar at Chow Kit. One of a truely great authentic taste from Penang. I was first introduce by my friend 10 years ago when I first came down to KL and recently tried it back again. Still pretty good as it is.

Mohd Yaseem (1)

Like many nasi kandar in kl, the offerings are pretty much the same. From vegetable, fish meat, mutton, beef, seafood. Prices certainly comes in a bomb if you touch any of the seafood.

Mohd Yaseem (2)

Mohd Yaseem (3)

It was after work last week and decided to ‘tapau’ this back as just sit right behind the office tower where I am working. My usual order are, cabbage, beef and chicken, it comes with a total of RM 12. Price is pretty decent. Of course you must have flood gravy in your rice to make it punch with flavour.

Mohd Yaseem (4)

Love the multiple burst of flavour in your mouth, from spicy, sour, herbs fragrant, sweet and it is indeed a good mix. Love it. One of the best nasi kandar in KL.

This place is definitely top in my list if you compare to my usual Kayu or Pelita or even easily beats Line Clear KL for its taste. The set back is only parking around the area. If you come after 9pm just park in front the shop at the road side.

If you guys do have your fav nasi kandar that is da bomb, do leave a comment below. Will try to check it out.

Hakwer Hall @ Sri Hartamas, KL

Hakwer Hall is one of the latest eatery being added into Sri Hartamas neighborhood. If you are looking for a decent pricing of street food to hunt, this could be the place. Offering variety of food and a nice place to sit and chill.

Hawker Hall (1)

Hawker Hall (2)

We might be thinking wrong, however it does look and feel like a food court with different operators. Not too sure is it run by a team in there and the little stall outside is for decoration purpose.

Hawker Hall (3)

Love the vibe of this place.

Hawker Hall (4)

Food menu.

Hawker Hall (5)

Penang Char Koey Teow @ RM 12.90 serve with 3 big prawns. Alot good comments in Google Review. (It was a let down for me as expectation set too high for me in those reviews)

Hawker Hall (6)

Cantonese Seafood Hor Fun @ RM 12.90 – this is “out”

Hawker Hall (7)

Penang Mee Mamak @ RM 10.90 – this is not too bad.

Hawker Hall (8)

Daebak Soy Garlic Wings @ RM 17.90 – no comment on the Korean fried chicken.

Hawker Hall (9)

Stir Fry Basil Leaves with Lala @ RM 19.90

Hawker Hall (10)

Kopi Peng @ RM 3.50 – never finish (they need to fix it, as like drinking condense milk)

Oh well, rarely seen a food operator that can cook “pretty good food”. I guess this place does not suit me to my liking. Could be suitable to many of you out there. Best is this place is pork free.

Burger was the highest recommended by my friend. Will check them out again. But the rest, not for me.

remark: I paid with Grabpay and was told one of the dish could not make it, hence told me to get refund. Waited 30 minutes later why my refund still have yet gotten and only was told I have to CALL GRABPAY myself to initiate the refund. (this is indeed very weird for me). Cashier maybe need to learn how to smile abit, we do not owe you a million.

Hopefully they will improve over the months as only 2 months in business.

the Burg Burger @ Uptown Damansara

It was on weekdays and just right after Happy Hour with friends and they insisted me to have supper with them that I must try out this burger stall operate by this young chap. I would regard the Burg in Uptown Damansara is one of the best street gourmet burger that I come across. Operating in a yard of close kopitiam during night, brighten up with fairies light, and if you drive slightly fast, I am pretty sure you going to miss out this stall.

The Burg (1)

a style by its own and it is darn good after trying it out. Half the price of gourmet burger chain and taste quite good. Currently only 4 types of burger are available.

  1. Salted Egg
  2. Roasted Sesame
  3. Japanese curry
  4. Buttermilk

the owner only use fresh chicken meat at the moment.

The Burg (2)

The Burg (3)

After I see the menu, I directly hit on the Salted Egg Burger @ RM 9. Slap with a slab of fresh fried chicken thigh. Fried to perfection that the chicken is crispy, juicy and moist. Salted Egg sauce that top on top is spot on. Just the right amount, did not over power the rest of the burger taste. Sauce is creamy, well balance of light salted taste and salted egg is not too strong yet a nice aroma in da mouth.

The Burg (4)

My the other new friend, he ordered his favourite Buttermilk. If you like something cremier then this one is good. slightly creamy with hint of nice sweet taste.

The Burg (5)

The Burg (6)

Then my friend requested some sauce for me to try. The tomyum sauce, is gooooood! will try out his Tomyum base next round.

The Burg (7)

For gourmet street burger, currently this sits top spot. Nice pricing and good. Definately a recommended burger place also one of the best burger in PJ. Not your typical Ramlee Burger place.

Hock Kee Ulu Yam Loh Mee apparently is quite famous in this Bukit Tinggi neighborhood. Ulu Yam Loh Mee is quite different from the typical one as they are in dark colours.

Hock Kee Ulu Yam Loh Mee (3)

Start off with their Guinness Fried Chicken @ RM 13.80. Crispy skins that fried to perfection, hint of bitterness and sweet after taste is what we are looking at. A good starter.

Hock Kee Ulu Yam Loh Mee (4)

Next is this Exciting Pepper Mee Hoon Soup @ RM 7.30. Punch with flavour and indeed get your taste bud excited. Hint of peppery at the end that is not too overpowering.
